This dish is absolutely easy to make and DELICIOUS!!! As the ‘Char Siu Sauce’ that I created to make ‘Char Siu’ Baked Pork is very popular, I tried to marinate Chicken Fillets in the sauce, and baked them. I used Chicken Thigh Fillets on my husband request, and a lot of oil came out. I should have used a roasting rack. And also boneless Fillets shrink a lot when baked. You may prefer bone-in pieces.

Makes

4 to 5 Servings

Ingredients

1kg Chicken Thigh Fillets OR Breast Fillets
*Note: You may prefer bone-in Chicken pieces

Sauce
2 cloves Garlic *grated
1 small piece Ginger *grated
4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) Soy Sauce
4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) Brown Sugar
4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) Ketchup
1 tablespoon Hoisin Sauce
1/2 teaspoon Salt
*Note: You can add 1/2 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice

Method
  1. Combine all the Sauce ingredients in a large container OR bowl, add Chicken Fillets (OR bone-in pieces), coat each piece very well, cover with a lid OR plastic food wrap, and set aside for 1-2 hours. *Note: Leave them in the fridge if required.
  2. Preheat oven to 220°C. Lightly oil a baking tray OR line with baking paper if you wish to do so. *Note: You may wish to use a roasting rack.
  3. Place drained Chicken Fillets on the prepared tray and bake for 15 minutes. Take the tray out, brush the sauce over the Chicken pieces, then bake for 5 more minutes or until nicely browned.
  4. *Note: If you use bone-in pieces, alter the baking time. It would take longer.
